Is placenta encapsulation safe?

There are no known harmful side effects of placenta encapsulation. As a trained placenta specialist, we are able to inform clients if there is any reason we feel the placenta should NOT be consumed (such as infection or improper storage). During encapsulation, we use the highest methods of safety and sanitation. We have completed an OSHA blood borne pathogens course created specially for placenta encapsulators, as well as holding a current food handlers card for the state of New Jersey. Only one placenta is ever processed in our space at any given time so there is no risk of cross contamination. We are well versed on food safety guidelines which allows us to create a product that is not only safe to consume immediately post birth, but for years to come!

Where is my placenta processed?

Your placenta is processed in a designated, placenta only work space. We specifically designed this space for ONLY processing placentas using commercial, restaurant grade equipment. Processing your placenta in our designated space allows us to control all variables during encapsulation. We can ensure that there is no children, animals, or potential contamination aspects present. In case of a power outage, we are available immediately to turn our backup power supply on and ensure your placenta remains safe for consumption.

What is the encapsulation process?

Once you give birth, you will contact your placenta specialist as soon as possible after birth. You will be given instructions prior to delivery on proper storage of your placenta until we can arrive to collect it. Once it has been collected, your placenta will be processed in our designated placenta ONLY workspace. It will be dehydrated using food safe temperatures for a length of time to ensure it is completely void of any moisture. On day two it will be ground and placed in to vegetarian capsules. Once fully encapsulated, we will then deliver your finished capsules back to you, along with a full dosage guide!

How do I know that I will get my placenta back?

Only one placenta is ever processed in our space at one time. Each placenta we process is labeled throughout the entire encapsulation process. We follow the strictest guidelines to insure there is never any cross contamination.

Why is it important to use someone that is trained in placenta encapsulation?

It is important to use someone that is specifically trained in placenta encapsulation. There are guidelines that must be followed and all trained placenta encapsulation specialists know and follow these guidelines. Trained encapsulation specialists also adhere to strict OSHA and EPA guidelines for safe handling and disinfection. A trained encapsulator is also trained in dosing guidelines, capsule care instructions, and most importantly, when to NOT take the capsules. We are trained to safely handle and prepare your placenta. Encapsulators that are not formally trained may not adhere to proper safety guidelines or even know what the safety guidelines are.

What training have your encapsulators had?

All of our encapsulators are certified placenta encaspsulator through the Association of Placenta Preparation Arts. They carry a current food handlers card for the state of New Jersey. They have completed a Blood Borne Pathogens course specifically created for placenta encapsulators, Copies of all certifications can be provided upon request.

How do I care for the placenta before you come?

Easy! We send all of our clients a placenta transport kit a few weeks prior to your due date. In the placenta transport kit will be a soft sided, insulated cooler, storage bags, and detailed instructions on how to package your placenta. Follow the instructions on the card and you are all set until we arrive to pick up your placenta!

How do I get my placenta released from the hospital?

Every hospital has different release procedures regarding placenta release. Most local hospitals have simple procedures, such as signing a release form. We will guide you on how to obtain your placenta from whichever hospital you decide to deliver at.

Can my placenta be encapsulated if I have a C-Section? An epidural? PREMATURE labor?

The answer in most cases is YES. The only time we absolutely can not encapsulate your placenta is if there is any kind of infection in mom or baby at the time of birth.

I am Jewish, can I still consume my placenta? Is it considered Kosher?

In short, you can 100% consume your encapsulated placenta with the approval of your Rabbi. For more information, head here!

How many capsules will I get back?

This depends on the size of the placenta, the encapsulation method and if you choose any other services (tincture, salve, or smoothie cubes). Most placentas average 130-150 capsules!

What kind of capsules do you use?

We use only vegetarian, non gelatin capsules. Flavored capsules are available by special request.

What if I don't use all of the capsules?

The capsules can be frozen and used during other stressful times in your life and even during the menopause years to help alleviate hormonal fluctuations.

What are the fees for encapsulation?

We like to think of placenta encapsulation as a small investment in your well being. Our packages are fully customizable to make sure each client gets exactly what they need for their postpartum. We offer flexible payment plans to make sure placenta encapsulation is an accessible service for all budgets. Discounts are offered to clients under Medicade insurance plans.

What areas do you serve?

Our service area includes up to a 60 mile radius of Brick, New Jersey. We provide services to Monmouth, Ocean, Burlington, Middlesex, and Mercer counties. We offer special consideration to Bucks County, PA as well. We can gladly encapsulate for you if you happen to live outside of our service area for an extra travel fee.
